Locals to help shape new community hospitals – Community consultative committee applications now open

The Victorian Government has committed $675 million to build ten community hospitals in the major growth areas of Craigieburn, Cranbourne, City of Whittlesea, Eltham area, Fishermans Bend, Pakenham, Phillip Island, Point Cook, Sunbury and Torquay

Local communities will have the chance to shape the care and services delivered by their new flagship community hospital through participation in community consultative committees (CCCs).

What is a community consultative committee?

A community consultative committee (CCC) is a forum for ideas and discussion about what kind of healthcare services the local area needs, and how they might be best delivered.

Each CCC will include representatives from key local organisations, health service providers and councils, alongside community residents.

The community representatives will play a critical role in offering a local perspective and relaying broader views from outside the CCC, where appropriate. In turn, committee members will have a role in communicating the committee’s ideas and priorities to the wider community.
