Bendigo Hospital Day Rehabilitation Centre

The project involved constructing a new hydrotherapy pool and consolidating rehabilitation services into one convenient location. The new centre provides the following services:

• outpatient rehabilitation
• allied health
• dental
• mental health
• renal dialysis
• breast screenings
• diabetes education.

The project also demolished Bendigo Hospital’s ageing East and North Wing tower buildings, built in 1958 and 1972 respectively. The area has been converted to open green space for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy.

The Bendigo Hospital Day Rehabilitation Centre project aimed to achieve the following benefits:

Specialist allied health

Day rehabilitation services play a vital role in providing high quality therapies to help patients maximise their independence and give them the support they need to continue living at home.

Easier to access services

Patients recovering from accidents, injuries and medical conditions such as a stroke or heart attack can now access a team of health professionals all conveniently located in one place. Co-location of services also enables a holistic and patient-centred approach to rehabilitation and care.

Better use of campus facilities

Bendigo Health's campus facilities can now be used more easily, resulting in more efficient operations.

Green open space

Demolition of the old East and North Wing tower buildings will create new green open space for the community.

Jobs for Victorians

The project created approximately 260 jobs at the peak of construction.
