The $10 million Eastern Health Breast and Cancer Centre opened in May 2018.

It aimed to support Eastern Health to improve access to services and treatment for women at risk of, or undergoing treatment for, breast cancer. This project provided a purpose-built facility that could bring together breast screening, breast cancer treatment and supportive care services.

Scope

The development of the Eastern Health Breast and Cancer Centre, co-located at the Maroondah Hospital, aimed to support much needed breast cancer services, closer to home.

Benefits

The Eastern Health Breast and Cancer Centre project aimed to provide a purpose-built facility that could bring together breast screening, breast cancer treatment and supportive care services.

Breast Screen Victoria and Radiation Oncology Consultation services are provided from the new facility along with:

Eastern Health’s diagnostic breast imaging
interventional breast imaging
medical oncology
breast care nurse consultation
wellness/support care consultation.

This project was delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority in partnership with Eastern Health.
