The $8.3 million Echuca Cancer and Wellness Centre will deliver a new chemotherapy/haemodialysis unit at Echuca Regional Health.

The project funding consists of the following:

  • Victorian Government contribution of $6 million
  • NSW Government contribution of $1 million
  • Echuca Regional Health Foundation contribution of $1.3 million.

The project will relocate Echuca Regional Health’s existing chemotherapy/haemodialysis unit to a new purpose-built cancer and wellness centre to improve amenity, access and comfort for patients, and provide a more efficient working environment for staff.

The new centre will deliver 12 new chemotherapy/haemodialysis treatment chairs and provide wellness programs to help improve the health and wellbeing of cancer patients.

Patients will continue to be able to access consultations with haematologists, medical oncologists, nephrologists and radiation oncologists, all conveniently located in one location.

The Echuca Cancer and Wellness Centre redevelopment will deliver:

  • a new purpose-built centre
  • 12 co-located chemotherapy/haemodialysis treatment chairs
  • improved amenity, access and comfort for patients
  • a more efficient working environment for staff
  • additional consulting spaces
  • capacity to provide wellness programs for patients.

The Echuca Cancer and Wellness Centre redevelopment aims to achieve the following benefits:

Improved amenity

The new centre is designed to provide a range of improvements for patients, such as access and comfort while undergoing chemotherapy treatment and haemodialysis services.

Better access to services

The new facility will improve access to consultations from haematologists, medical oncologists, nephrologists and radiation oncologists for more than 1200 patients each year. It will also provide a better working environment for doctors, nurses and other hospital staff.

Convenience

Patients will continue to be able to access consultations with haematologists, medical oncologists, nephrologists and radiation oncologists, all conveniently located in one location.

Jobs for Victorians

The project is expected to create approximately 25 construction jobs.
