Orygen Youth Health intensive care area upgrade

The $6.2 million Orygen Youth Health intensive care area upgrade was completed in August 2020. 

The upgrade includes four new inpatient beds and expanded and enhanced living, private, outdoor and treatment spaces for young people. 

The new intensive care area will provide safe and appropriate clinical treatment for young people experiencing acute mental illness and ensure they have access to treatment and care close to home and support networks.

The $6.2 million upgrade delivered:

  • four new inpatient beds
  • expanded and enhanced living and private treatment spaces.

The Orygen Youth Health intensive care upgrade aimed to reduce the risk of harm and improve mental health among young patients with acute mental illness.

This project was delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority in partnership with:

  • Western Health
  • North Western Mental Health
  • Orygen Youth Health
  • Bamford Architects
  • Plan Group (builder).
