[End of transcript]

The new multi-storey building includes:

  • a new 32-bed inpatient unit
  • four operating theatres
  • a new central sterile supply department
  • spaces for outpatient services.

The facility is all-electric, reducing emissions and the hospital’s impact on the surrounding area.

The expansion also includes several landscaped spaces where patients, visitors and staff can relax and recharge.

Located in Upper Ferntree Gully, the project has been built for the growing Knox and Yarra Ranges communities. With the region projected to grow to more than 900,000 people by 2036, including one in five people aged 65 years or older, the upgrade means families and locals can access the care they need.

More than 1,300 workers contributed over 285,000 hours to build the expansion since construction began in February 2024.

The Angliss Hospital expansion was delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), in partnership with Eastern Health and builder Kane Constructions.
