[End of transcript]

Due to be renamed ‘Peninsula University Hospital’ when it opens to patients early in the new year, the redeveloped hospital features:

  • a new tower with 12 levels of clinical services
  • a new main entrance
  • 130 more beds
  • 15 new operating theatres
  • modern spaces for mental health and oncology services
  • expanded women’s and children’s services including a new maternity, obstetrics and paediatric wards, a women’s clinic and special care nursery
  • a rooftop helipad.

An expansion of the existing emergency department will provide a new mental health, alcohol and other drugs hub as well as a dedicated paediatric zone, providing specialist care for patients, families and carers when they need it most.

Over three million hours of on-site work by more than 5,200 workers have built the project from the ground up since July 2022.

Once fully operational the redeveloped hospital will have the capacity to treat 35,000 more patients every year.

The Frankston Hospital redevelopment is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Peninsula Health and the Exemplar Health consortium.
