New student accommodation opens at Maryborough and District Hospital

New, modern student accommodation is now available at the Maryborough and District Hospital.

The $4 million facility provides a comfortable and convenient place for medical, nursing and allied health students to stay during training and work placements.

The new accommodation will help attract more undergraduate and postgraduate students to kick start their careers in the healthcare sector. It complements state-of-the-art training facilities and education programs already available in Maryborough.

Funded through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the new facility includes:

20 single bedrooms with ensuite bathroom
communal living, kitchen and dining areas
landscaped gardens.

The project was delivered by the Maryborough District Health Service in partnership with the Victorian Health Building Authority.

Maryborough and District Hospital redevelopment

The student accommodation project builds on the Victorian Government’s $100 million investment to redevelop and expand the Maryborough and District Hospital.

When complete, Maryborough and District Hospital will be able to treat an additional 4,000 patients every year.

This project will deliver a new:

an urgent care centre
32 inpatient beds
a new maternity unit and birthing suites
two operating theatres and recovery spaces
a day medical centre including clinical imaging, pharmacy and pathology services
consultant suites
reception area
additional car parking.

Early works are now underway with the project on track to be completed by late 2024.
