Submissions for the 2026-27 round of the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Capital Renewal Fund are now open.
Health services can apply for a share of $10 million to deliver minor infrastructure works, remodelling and refurbishment projects that improve safety for staff, consumers and carers.
Of this, $1 million will be dedicated to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations who deliver Mental Health and AOD services, providing culturally safe and inclusive mental health and AOD services to Aboriginal communities.
These upgrades allow Victorians to access better mental health support and alcohol and drug treatment and recovery.
Some of the projects that have been funded in previous rounds include:
- safety and accessibility upgrades to Bendigo Community Health Services
- critical security upgrades to Latrobe Regional Health
- refurbishing an Aboriginal Community Elders Services building into a dedicated social and emotional wellbeing centre for Elders
- upgrades to Mildura Base Public Hospital’s Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
The fund supports the response to recommendations made in the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. It aims to address physical safety and wellbeing risks in Victoria's mental health facilities.
