The $115 million redevelopment of the Maryborough and District Hospital is complete.
Major construction was completed in April 2025. Major construction involved the delivery of:
- a new Urgent Care Centre
- a 32-bed inpatient ward
- a maternity unit
- two operating theatres and recovery spaces
- a day medical centre with imaging, pharmacy, oncology, dialysis and infusion services
- consultant suites for outpatient services
- off-street carparking.
The project’s ancillary works were completed in late 2025.
Ancillary works involved removing the old Urgent Care Centre and other buildings along Clarendon Street to reveal the original hospital building - parts of which date back to 1857.
Inside, only minor updates to walls and flooring were needed, allowing the building’s historic character to remain largely untouched.
The ancillary works also delivered:
- a new pedestrian ramp to the main entrance
- turning circle
- additional accessible car parking
- native landscaping.
The project was delivered in partnership with the Maryborough District Health Service and builder, Fairbrother.
