A new, multi-million-dollar mixed medical facility has opened at the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BDAC), providing better access to healthcare for Aboriginal families in Bendigo and the Loddon Mallee region.
The new two-storey facility includes:
- consulting rooms
- allied health rooms
- interview rooms
- a dental consultation space
- treatment bay
- pathology room
- drop-off ambulance area.
In addition to more treatment spaces, the new purpose-built facility also includes a community welcome room, community area, kids play area, staff room, meeting rooms and more than 70 workspaces.
Located on Prouses Road in North Bendigo, the bigger and better facility will allow the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative to employ more GPs and specialists as well as allied health services, providing better access to a range of medical professionals and services under the one roof.
The new mixed medical facility is double the size of the current medical facility managed by the BDAC.
Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF)
The project was made possible thanks to more than $7.4 million in funding from the Victorian Government’s flagship Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).
The RHIF, valued at $790 million overall, provides vital government funding to rural and regional health services and agencies across Victoria. This ensures these services can continue to provide safe and efficient care to local communities.
The BDAC and Commonwealth Government also contributed towards the project.
