Families in Melbourne’s inner north rejoice! We’re paving the way for construction to start on the Northcote Early Parenting Centre this year.
To be located at 30 Green Street, Northcote the new Early Parenting Centre will offer free and specialised parenting support for new parents and carers with children up to four years of age.
The Northcote Early Parenting Centre will feature:
- 10 overnight family units
- consulting rooms
- shared kitchen and dining areas
- multi-purpose room
- playroom and various outdoor spaces
- onsite carparking.
So construction on the Northcote Early Parenting Centre can start later this year, existing buildings on the 30 Green Street, Northcote site need to be demolished.
City Circle has been appointed to demolish the buildings. This means main construction on the multi-million-dollar centre can get underway later this year.
It takes around 12 months to construct an Early Parenting Centre.
What is an Early Parenting Centre (EPC)?
Early Parenting Centres support parents or carers with children up to four years old. They help build parenting skills and confidence by providing help with:
- sleep and settling
- parent-child bonding and attachment
- child behaviour and development
- strengthening parenting capacity
- building community connections.
The Northcote Early Parenting Centre will be managed by the Tweddle Child and Family Health Service. The Tweddle Child and Family Health Service has provided essential support for babies, toddlers, and families across Victoria for more than 100 years.
