Wonthaggi Hospital expansion puts local jobs first
The Wonthaggi Hospital expansion is one step closer with three builders shortlisted to deliver the $115 million project, creating 345 local jobs during construction.
The successful shortlisted builders are:
- ADCO Constructions
- Kane Constructions
- Watpac Constructions.
In partnership with Bass Coast Health, Grow Gippsland and Industry Capability Network, we recently hosted an industry briefing webinar targeting local small and medium sized enterprises interested in being part of the head contractor bid teams, which will deliver the main works.
The expansion will provide 18 additional treatment spaces, three new operating theatres, a procedure room and a 32-bed inpatient ward.
A bigger and better emergency department will mean an extra 26,000 patients visiting emergency can be treated each year, ensuring Victorians in one of the state’s fastest growing regions can continue to receive quality care, locally.
Construction has been progressing rapidly since early works began on the state-of-the-art expansion in December 2019. Commencement of the main works is expected to kick off from late-2020, with construction due to be completed in early 2023.
