Youth mental health facility upgrades in Bendigo, Dandenong and Frankston

We’ve released a first look at the designs for important upgrades to existing youth prevention and recovery care (YPARC) centres in Bendigo, Dandenong and Frankston.

YPARC centres are for young people experiencing mental ill health. They provide residential short and medium-term treatment and support for people aged between 16-25.

The artist impressions were designed by Bamford Architects. They reveal a first look at the refurbished facilities’ exteriors, internal fit-outs and outdoor areas, including barbecue spaces and a sensory courtyard.

The spaces have been carefully considered to create a welcoming and home-like environment. This will support young people to receive the contemporary and personalised care they need on their recovery journey.

About the youth prevention and recovery care centre expansion program

The youth prevention and recovery care centre expansion program is a $141 million investment to deliver new and refurbished YPARC facilities across the state.

The program is a response to key recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.

The program will more than double the capacity of the state’s current YPARC network with five new 10-bed centres to be built.

The new centres will be located in:

  • Ballarat
  • Greater Geelong
  • Greater Shepparton
  • Heidelberg
  • Traralgon.
