This HTA provides guidance on how to implement effective energy and water metering systems within new and existing healthcare facilities, and why metering systems are important. This HTA supersedes the former departmental guidance note on metering.

The document outlines metering and monitoring requirements for capital works projects, including the requirements for a robust metering and monitoring strategy, compliance with relevant standards and frameworks, connection to a monitoring platform, and reporting through the Department of Health’s environmental data management system (EDMS).
