Scope
The Swan Hill emergency department redevelopment delivered a new building on the existing Swan Hill District Health site.
This included:
- a new emergency department with additional treatment spaces, isolation room and a behavioural assessment room
- a new entry on McCrae Street
- eight additional points of care for a total of 15 points of care
- a four-bed short-stay unit
- medical imaging.
Benefits
The Swan Hill District Health emergency department redevelopment will achieve the following benefits:
More services to meet growing demand
The redevelopment more than doubled emergency department treatments spaces. The project will increase the level and quality of services, improve wait times and support the increasing demand for services in the region.
Treating more patients closer to home
The expanded emergency department, which includes additional treatment spaces, now provides more urgent care for patients closer to home.
Local jobs
The project provided employment opportunities for the local community, with around 145 jobs created and sustained during the peak of construction.
