Flinders Street Community Health Hub

Location 244 Flinders Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000, Australia

We’re delivering a new Community Health Hub at 244 Flinders Street, Melbourne.

In partnership with cohealth, the new Community Health Hub will offer primary health and wrap around services, an enhanced outreach program, and a care coordination model to connect people with the care and support they need.

It will connect people in the CBD to vital health care and social supports, with dedicated teams providing practical assistance and coordinated care for those who need it most.

Major construction is on track for completion in mid 2026.

Statewide Action Plan to reduce drug harms – delivering better care across Victoria

The Flinders Street Community Health Hub is one of several key initiatives in the Victorian Government’s Statewide Action Plan to reduce drug harms, which is focused on:

  • saving lives and reducing drug-related harms
  • expanding access to health-led, compassionate services across the CBD, suburbs and regional communities
  • boosting services in areas where access to care has been limited.

TO CARE IN MELBOURNE CBD

The Community Health Hub will be a central, purpose-built space where people with complex health needs can easily access the care and support they require.

We’re transforming the interior of the building to create a safe, modern and welcoming Community Health Hub, featuring:

  • Clinical spaces and healthcare consultation rooms for treatment and support services.
  • A drop-in zone with kitchen space, laundry facilities, showers and toilets to support the wellbeing of vulnerable community members.

Better access to care: The Community Health Hub will be a welcoming place for people to access health, social and treatment services.

Health-led approach: Treating drug harm as a health issue with compassionate, coordinated support.

Reduced pressure on emergency services: Helping people before they reach crisis point.

Safer communities: Outreach and harm reduction initiatives that improve public health and local amenity.

Neighbours will be informed ahead of any potentially disruptive construction activity.

We will work closely with Lendlease to minimise impacts on nearby residents and businesses during construction.

All works will be carried out in strict accordance with approved Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and council guidelines and within approved construction work hours.

This project is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with:

  • cohealth
  • Department of Health
  • Lyons Architecture
  • Lendlease.
