Ageing well in Mansfield with new residential facility

Works are complete on the new Mansfield aged care facility, delivering modern, welcoming spaces for older locals as part of a $62.8 million investment.

Operated by Mansfield District Hospital, residents will enjoy:

• 30 new modern single rooms (replacing Buckland House), each with their own ensuites, grouped into small households with shared kitchen, lounge and dining areas
• upgraded rooms and facilities at the existing, co-located Bindaree Retirement Centre (works now underway).

More than 660 construction jobs have contributed to the project so far, including the use of local contractors.

Spaces to support social wellbeing

New flexible common areas have been designed to encourage social connection and everyday living.

These include a communal kitchen and a range of recreational spaces where residents can spend time with other residents, family, friends and carers.

Designed for complex care needs

The purpose-built facility has been carefully designed to support residents with complex health needs and reduced mobility, including those living with dementia.

This includes landscaped gardens and outdoor courtyards, easily accessible from each household.

The facility will help deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a setting that feels like home.

What’s next?

The next stage of the project will involve refurbishing the existing Bindaree Retirement Centre, delivering updated bedrooms, a new entrance, community rooms, and a café.

Buckland House will also be refurbished and repurposed for community use, including offices and activity rooms.

These works are due to be completed in 2027.
