Designs underway for expanded rehabilitation facility at Sunshine Hospital
Designs are now underway for a $9.42 million expansion of Westside Lodge, a dual diagnosis residential rehabilitation facility in St Albans.
Bamford Architects has been appointed to design the expanded facility, which will add 10 extra beds and refurbish shared common areas. Once complete, the revamped facility will be able to treat an extra 40 people each year.
Operated by Western Health with clinical support from North Western Mental Health, Westside Lodge is currently a 20-bed facility. It provides a clinically-led, holistic, person-centred, and recovery-focussed model of care for members of the community recovering from drug and alcohol use, as well as mental ill health.
The expansion means the local community will have better access to mental health, alcohol and other drug treatment services.
Construction of the expanded dual diagnosis facility is expected to start in mid-2022 and be complete in mid-2023. The project will create and sustain around 28 construction industry jobs.
