Echuca Cancer and Wellness Centre opens

We’ve officially opened a purpose-built, $8.3 million cancer and wellness centre in Echuca.

The new facility will support communities across Victoria’s north and along the Murray River.

The centre has 12 new treatment chairs for cancer and kidney disease patients. It means more than 1,200 patients each year can now receive world-class care close to home.

About the Echuca Cancer and Wellness Centre

The new facility brings together a range of medical specialists under the one roof including oncologists, nephrologists and radiation oncologists. The centre is focused on providing a more holistic, patient-centred approach to care.

Tailored wellness programs will also focus on physical and emotional health and wellbeing during treatment and recovery.

The project has relocated Echuca Regional Health’s existing chemotherapy/haemodialysis unit to a more convenient location on Service Street. This will improve patient comfort and access, and provide a safer and more efficient working environment for staff.

Design for calm

The centre’s design provides a calm and welcoming environment for patients and families.

The modern floorplan also provides flexible spaces. This means patients and their families can meet clinical teams - and other support workers - with greater privacy.

Funding

The project was funded by:

  • the Victorian Government (contribution of $6 million)
  • the NSW Government (contribution of $1 million)
  • the Echuca Regional Health Foundation (contribution of $1.3 million).
