Major works complete on Orbost’s new public aged care home

Major works are complete on Snowy River Views Residential Care – a new $45.36 million public aged care home in Orbost, delivering modern, purpose-built facilities for older East Gippsland residents.

Operated by Orbost Regional Health, the two-level facility features 38 single bedrooms with private ensuites, arranged in small household models with shared kitchens and dining areas, and beautifully landscaped sensory gardens and terraces.

More than 420 construction jobs were supported throughout delivery, with almost half of those jobs filled locally.

Spaces that support connection

The facility includes a range of flexible common areas designed to support social connection and everyday living, including shared dining and lounge areas, recreational spaces, and outdoor areas for residents to spend time with family, friends and carers.

Designed to support complex and dementia care

The new purpose-built facility has been carefully designed to support residents with complex health needs, including those with reduced mobility and people living with dementia.

It also incorporates contemporary design features to support infection prevention and control, and to provide a safe, functional and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

This supports the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in a setting that feels like home.

What’s next?

Minor refurbishments at the former facility at Orbost Regional Health will expand hospital amenities, with works due to be completed by mid-2026.

The project was delivered in partnership with Orbost Regional Health, ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects and SJ Higgins.

The project forms part of the Victorian Government’s investment to modernise public aged care infrastructure across the state.
