Peninsula University Hospital officially opens
Peninsula University Hospital, formerly known as Frankston Hospital, has opened its doors to patients today following a transformative $1.1 billion redevelopment.
This marks the largest ever health infrastructure investment in Melbourne’s south-east, and begins an exciting new era for healthcare, training and research in the region.
The redevelopment has delivered a new world-class 12-level hospital tower and rooftop helipad, with 130 more beds, new spaces for maternity, paediatric, mental health and oncology services, 15 new operating theatres, and an expanded emergency department.
Main works on the redevelopment were completed in December 2025 after almost four years of construction.
Peninsula University Hospital is operated by Bayside Health (formerly Peninsula Health). For more information, visit the Bayside Health Peninsula website.
