Take a look at designs for the Maffra aged care facility

We’ve released a first look at designs for a state-of-the-art public sector residential aged care facility in Maffra.

Operated by Central Gippsland Health, the new 30-bed facility will replace the JHF McDonald Wing and the Residential Aged Care Wing within Maffra District Hospital.

Designed to maximise residents’ independence, each bedroom will have its own ensuite bathroom.

The facility will be divided into smaller ‘households’ that include:

  • dedicated kitchens
  • dining rooms
  • lounge and sitting areas.

Take a look.

The multi-million-dollar facility will also boast multiple common areas including:

  • reflection room
  • café
  • hairdressing salon
  • art room
  • carefully considered outdoor areas for residents to catch up and meet with family and friends.

Capitalising on the natural surroundings of the new site, natural light and open area views have been prioritised throughout the building’s design.

Next steps

Once the new residential aged care building is completed, the JHF McDonald Wing and the Residential Aged Care Wing within Maffra District Hospital will be refurbished to provide a new Allied Health and Community Wellness Centre.

In the final stage of the project, the inpatient ward area with six beds within the Maffra District Hospital will be refurbished to ensure it can continue to deliver the very best care, now and into the future.
