New Melton Hospital Project industry briefing

The major infrastructure industry is invited to attend a virtual briefing to learn more about the New Melton Hospital Project.

The Victorian Government has committed up to $1 billion to deliver a new Melton Hospital in Cobblebank. The all electric public hospital will be delivered as a public private partnership, with construction expected to get underway in 2024.

About this event

The industry briefing is an opportunity for major infrastructure and partner organisations to learn more about the New Melton Hospital Project and its procurement process.

Speaking at the event will be:

  • The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services
  • Robert Fiske, CEO, Victorian Health Building Authority
  • Russell Harrison, CEO, Western Health
  • Tina Skliros, Executive Director, PPP Projects and Jim Boston, Interim Project Director, Victorian Health Building Authority
  • An Nguyen, Executive Director and Head of Partnerships Victoria, Infrastructure Delivery Group, Department of Treasury and Finance
  • Roslyn Wai, CEO, Melton City Council.

The briefing will be held via Microsoft Teams. Organisations can register up to three colleagues to attend the event.
 

About the new Melton Hospital

The all-electric, public hospital will be operated by Western Health. It will provide:

  • at least 274 beds (395 Points of Care)
  • 24/7 emergency care
  • an intensive care unit
  • maternity and neonatal services
  • mental health and radiology services
  • outpatient care.

The project will be procured and delivered as a public private partnership (PPP) under the Partnerships Victoria Framework.

Once completed, Melton Hospital will have the capacity to treat 130,000 patients each year and see almost 60,000 patients in the emergency department.

The project is expected to create more than 700 direct jobs and 1,700 indirect jobs during construction.
