What are we building?

The aged facility will be co-located with and operated by Cohuna District Hospital.

Once complete in 2027, it will feature 16 aged care beds arranged in two ‘small households’. Residents will be able to stay connected with each other as well as loved ones, with access to:

  • modern single rooms with private ensuite bathrooms
  • a dedicated communal kitchen
  • dining areas
  • lounge areas
  • break-out sitting areas.

The new facility will also include eight acute care hospital beds, ensuring residents have easy access to integrated medical care.

Jobs for Victorians

More than 150 workers have contributed to the project so far, with strong local involvement. Where possible, construction materials and services are being sourced locally to support regional jobs and boost the local economy.

Innovation

Innovative building methods have also been trialled on site, including the use of a robotic set-out machine that ‘prints’ the building plan directly onto the concrete slab - improving speed and accuracy by mapping out wall locations, door swings and room numbers.
