The new Footscray Hospital virtual engagement room took out the top honours in the GOV Design Awards 2022 as part of the Melbourne Design Awards Elevate campaign in April.
The engagement room project also claimed gold in the Digital – Government Services category at the Melbourne Design Awards in July 2022.
The New Footscray Hospital Project team were unable to meet with the community in person due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Together with professional services firm RPS, a virtual engagement room was created. The virtual room invited members of the community to learn more about the design and construction of the $1.5 billion new hospital.
Visitors to the virtual room can explore interviews with the builders and experience a 3D tour of the hospital designs, from the comfort of their home. The room also includes kids’ activities and an opportunity to contribute to a time capsule that will be placed on the site of the new Footscray Hospital.
Information is available in multiple languages and the ‘community corner’ shines a spotlight on the community that has helped shape this once in a generation investment for Melbourne’s west.
The room is regularly updated as the project moves into new stages of construction. It includes opportunities to submit questions to the project team and download further information.
