Over 500 inpatient beds
including same-day, multi-day, critical care, sub-acute, drug and alcohol, and mental health services
The Victorian Government invested $35.7 million to redevelop Swan Hill District Health’s emergency department.
The funding enabled Swan Hill District Health to upgrade the emergency department with a new high-quality clinical environment that reflects contemporary healthcare standards.
The new emergency department provides shorter wait times by more than doubling the number of points of care. To meet future demand, a short-stay unit was also added.

Construction of the Victorian Heart Hospital – Australia’s first specialist cardiac hospital – is on track for completion in late 2022.
The main façade and all major structural works are now completed, with work on the internal fit-out continuing.
The striking façade, using weathered steel solar screens, is inspired by an electrocardiogram (ECG). It is designed to optimise the amount of daylight in the hospital – leading to reduced environmental impacts and improved patient outcomes.
Located on the Monash University Clayton campus, the Victorian Heart Hospital will integrate clinical cardiology services, research, and education to create a centre of excellence.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Monash Health and Monash University.

The Victorian Government provided $57.11 million to build a 50-bed aged care facility in Rutherglen.
The project involved relocating the current Glenview Community Care Nursing Home to a new site at 33-45 Main Street, Rutherglen. The bigger site allowed the facility to expand from 40 to 50 beds while giving residents their own rooms with private ensuite bathrooms.
Helping residents feel at home, rooms are grouped into smaller households with dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and sitting areas.
