Creswick Nursing Home – Dementia friendly unit

A new $3.2 million dementia friendly unit at Creswick Nursing Home has opened.

Funded via the Victorian Government’s $490 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), the upgrade includes a new 12-bed unit purpose-built to provide best practice dementia care.

The project also delivered improvements to the existing residential aged care facility. These include a consolidation of common areas and upgrades to heating and cooling systems.

Ballarat Base Hospital redevelopment

The Victorian Government is investing $655 million to redevelop and expand Ballarat Base Hospital.

The redevelopment will deliver a new multi-level tower and main entrance off Sturt Street, a new emergency department with an integrated mental health, alcohol and other drugs hub, a new helipad, a new women and children's hub and an extra 100 inpatient and short stay beds.

Ballarat Hospice Care - Palliative care hub

Communities in the Ballarat region and surrounds now have a purpose-built palliative care hub to meet the increasing demand for specialist, community-based palliative care and bereavement support.

The facility was made possible via $6.2 million contribution from the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, giving patients, families and carers improved access to the support and resources needed to make decisions around living, dying and grieving well.

Latrobe Regional Hospital Expansion - Stage 3A

The Victorian Government invested $223.5 million to expand the Latrobe Regional Hospital.

This third stage has expanded the maternity unit and delivered three operating suites, 44 inpatient beds and 14 medical and surgical beds. This means more people can get the care they need, closer to home.

There are also six new intensive care unit beds, a new emergency resuscitation bay and a medical imaging and pathology unit.

The expansion also includes a $6.5 million six-bed emergency department mental health, alcohol and other drugs hub.

Peninsula Health - Energy performance contract

The Victorian Government has invested $7 million in the Peninsula Health energy performance contract. The initiative is part of the Greener Government Buildings program. The program aims to improve the energy efficiency of government owned buildings, with the goal of achieving net carbon zero by 2050.

Energy efficiency upgrades such as replacing lights with high-efficiency LEDs, upgrading ageing air conditioning plants and installing solar arrays have been completed at these Peninsula Health sites:
